Dodgers Tie MLB Mark With 12-0 Home Start

Sep 18, 2014 1:39 AM

The Dodgers defeated the Diamondbacks 3-1 on Tuesday to extend their torrid start at home to 12-0, tying a major league record. "I think anytime you put a streak together like this, it's a surprise -- that things keep going your way," manager Joe Torre said. "But the thing that doesn't surprise me is that we've been going out there every day and grinding it as a team. And that's what's most important to me. I mean, baseball's full of streaks. You just hope the good ones outnumber the bad ones." The 1911 Tigers also started 12-0 at home. The Dodgers will host the Nationals on Wednesday night with a chance to set a new record.

Dodgers Set Record With 10-0 Mark At Home

Jun 21, 2014 12:30 PM

The Dodgers defeated the Padres 7-3 on Sunday, moving them to 10-0 at home this season. The win allowed the team to set a new franchise record for consecutive home wins to begin a season. The 10-0 start at Chavez Ravine eclipsed the mark set at Ebbets Field by the 1946 Brooklyn Dodgers. "We're supposed to win at home. This is our field," winning pitcher Chad Billingsley said. "When you're sitting on the bench, you can see the intensity of the crowd. That makes a huge difference for us."

Dodgers Tie Team-Record With 9-0 Home Start

Jun 10, 2014 6:16 AM

The Dodgers defeated the Padres 2-1 on Saturday night to push their home start to 9-0 this season, matching the franchise record set in 1946 in Brooklyn. "I want to make it 10-0," manager Joe Torre said. "You get greedy when you play well and get results. Most clubs would like to believe they're comfortable at home, and it's someplace you should win. The more you win someplace, the more confidence you have. A big part of it is the crowd, and the fact that you hit last in close games. "But every time we go on the field, we want to win. And whatever that number is, it is. Hopefully we can extend this thing. We're feeling pretty good about ourselves right now," Torre added. Andre Ethier hit a bases-loaded RBI single in the 10th inning to give Los Angeles a walk-off victory.
